What to pack

If you're moving into University-managed accommodation, the accommodation is fully furnished but you will need to bring some personal items.

During Arrivals Weekend there are opportunities to purchase items for your accommodation at reduced prices. The pop-up Eco Market offers a wide selection of preloved essential student household items including cookware, kitchen utensils, and room décor. Meanwhile ReStore Lancaster, our on-campus sustainability shop, provides preloved clothing and home essentials, with proceeds contributing to local charity, St John's Hospice. There are also supermarkets and shops in the city centre to explore.

Here is a list of what’s provided, and what we recommend you bring.

What shouldn't I bring?

There are very strict rules about what you can bring into the UK without paying duty tax. Some goods such as plants and foods are also restricted by law, and there are strict rules on drugs. If you are not sure what goods you can bring into the UK, you should check with your local British Embassy or High Commission.

Welcome Week

"Welcome Week was absolutely perfect for me. It gave me a chance to meet all of my flatmates, explore the campus, explore the city, get involved in my college’s activities, and so much more. I have started coming back to Lancaster a week before term starts to give myself a mini-freshers before going back into lectures!" - Erin, Pendle College
