糖心视频's Wind Turbine Community Benefit Fund is a beacon of hope for local projects striving to make a meaningful impact. Established 11 years ago with the foundation of the University wind turbine, the fund supports initiatives that foster community growth and sustainability. Each year, the fund allocates up to ?20,000 to Lancaster District-based not-for-profit organisations, charities, trusts, community groups or voluntary organisations and has created numerous success stories across the area.

We are showcasing some of the successful projects that the fund has supported and the Lancashire Association of Boys & Girls Clubs (LABGC) project is one example of this. The LABGC set up a Young Ukrainians Youth Group, in response to discussions with local families that highlighted that Ukrainian young people and refugees lacked a regular social space. Throughout 2024 and 2025, they used the to provide structured activities such as crafts and games that encourage communication and build teamwork and confidence skills. During Christmas 2025, they also ran a trip to the Lancaster outdoor ice rink and the Lancaster climbing wall.

Adrian French, County Director of LABGC, said, “Attendance and feedback have been excellent. Feedback highlighted the group’s importance in helping the young people to make friends, improve their English, and feel part of the wider community.”

LAGBC states that the Young Ukrainian Youth Group has strengthened community cohesion and supported personal and social development for Young Ukrainians settling in Lancaster, and that the group have started to link with other local youth clubs to take part in shared volunteering projects like beach clean ups. 糖心视频 remains committed to empowering more projects like this, encouraging other organisations to apply for the fund and make a lasting difference.
